FWIW, if you want a domain cheap for a 1 year term,
you can get a DOT.com from GoDaddy.com for $0.99

Just use the discount code BUYCOM99

Always wise to add the privacy as well. ($6.99)

The check-out price is $8.16

That got me a cheap domain, with a year to experiment
and see if a VOIPo Reseller account will work for me in the long-run. :D

I tried, but it found me as a former customer and cut me out of the special! Shoot!

Very odd. I've bought many URLs from Godaddy.
It only allowed one, and just the 1st year was $0.99

It does not seem to work any more - just tried.
At least it worked when I needed it. :)

I have only a few domains remaining with GoDaddy at this point. It is just too frustrating, to me, to keep up with their ever changing rates and specials. Most of mine are now through Hostway.com at their everyday flat $7.95 for registration! I do have to manage the domains records elsewhere (i.e. Rollernet.us, Zoneedit, etc.) since I do not use any of Hostway's other services, which is a _small_ price for greater flexibility and the ability to budget my resources.

EDIT on Feb 02, 2010: I guess I talked too much about the _old_ Hostway system... the new one allows full domain management on their systems! A major change for a cheap ROF like me. ;-)

One trick I learned for Godaddy.

cjc699 discount

Buy one url.com $7.17
Buy five url.info $0.97

Get privacy for all free

Total: $12.02

Yup, I am still unemployed and thrifty :)

The url.info might be good for scratchpad testing, or just let 'em die.
Actually http://www.wampserver.com/en/ app is better for internal development.

GoDaddy pissed me off years ago. I'm up to 10 domains now, all hosted at namecheap.com
$9.69 every day. Free privacy protection (on new domains, I think it's $2.50 a year for renewall).

Free privacy protection (on new domains, I think it's $2.50 a year for renewal). That sounds good I'll need to check them out some time.

I seem to be up to 20 domains, but I need to let many die.
NetworkSolutions is the one to avoid. Godaddy has been good to me.
I hosted with Godady, but HostGator is my host now.
Its good that you vote with your wallet :)

Godaddy can sync all your domain renewal dates to the same date. I did that and I don't have to worry about a thing.

That was a nice feature.

I got tired of them begging me to add on all the extra junk. But other than that, I really had no issues. But I'm cheap, and namecheap was less money, and I've had no issues with them either, and recommend them to all my web hosting clients.

I've been moving my godaddy stuff to enom, I'll look at Hostway, enom is 9.45 each, I have over 200 left at godaddy, a buck and a half savings over 200 domains buys lots of pizza.

If Bob what's his face didn't sponsor Danica or make those stupid superbowl commercials he could be the cheapest one out there.

HostGator will be launching a registrar later this year. Right now they resell eNom, but they are ICANN accredited now and will be launching an in-house registrar soon.

I expect one day to be running a HostGator Reseller account, and that news sounds like great news for me and HostGator :)

I was actually planning to be a reseller at HG. Still haven't finished all the research though. https://imagicon.info/cat/6-4/1.gif
