Hello,
I want to have a number (Any IDC),
And want to forward it to my computer via SIP address.
I was wondering how I can do this,

If I used Skype would that work? Forwarding the number to my Skype SIP,
Or how would I achieve this..

Thanks.

Ok I think I have got it working,
When I enter the SIP address into Vpanel do I place a period after it?
And my number is 8669259627
Can someone please phone it.

Hell Jordan,

To use a SIP address in VPanel simply form it such as:

A) user@hostname:port
B) sip:user@hostname:port

C) user@hostname
D) sip:user@hostname

However if port is not specified, please note it does default to port 5060 (SIP).

Do you know a good place to get a free SIP address which will work with X-Lite,
I only need to receive calls.

Im currently using http://voip.brujula.net/english/,
But I keep getting a 401 error with X-lite when it -re-registers my SIP address every 2-3 mins, And I have port forwarded.

401 Unauthorized generally means your SIP credentials are invalid. I would double check that you are using the proper credentials, as far as a service that provides free SIP addresses, I'm afraid I would not know of any myself to recommend. My best guess would be to do some quick googling, should be able to pickup some results there.

Geeze I was just about to call my self then my SoftPhone client rang and its really loud, You scared me so much.
And Im in GMT 9:30+ (South Australia),
Its about 7PM.

Thanks for the call!, Say hello to another client (Maybe Fax or Toll Free #)

Id also like to recommend "http://sip2sip.info/" to get free SIP address,
And "http://www.counterpath.com/" for the Xlite softphone client!,
Its very easy to use to.

Another thing I don't know if you know, but you can register a SIP adapter and hook up a regular phone to it instead of the softphone too by the way. So even though you're in Australia, it'd be like having a US phone line.

The residential service that we'll be announcing this week works pretty much like that.

We haven't said much about international with it because the call quality depends alot on the connection to our servers. Since overseas, sometimes there can be latency. If you have a good connection to us though, then it'll be a very good option especially for someone who has family or customers in the US and lives somewhere else.

Thats ok,
Id prefer using a Software phone.

I have about a 250 ping to TP servers.
Thats with s 20Mbps/1Mbps connection.
