We are finalizing the details for number porting. Here is what we're looking at so far.
Process
You will need the following to submit a number transfer:
1) LOA (Letter of Authorization) signed by end user. We will provide a template, but you can customize with your company name as long as it has all the required verbiage on it.
2) Copy of recent bill for number to be ported OR account printout/screenshot showing the name/number.
You'll submit them in your vPanel and upload PDF files for these two items.
We'll then submit the port to our carriers and update your as it progress. Depending on the old carrier and the area, porting time varies a lot (from 72 hours - 30 days). Typically we see 72 hour turnarounds for AT&T/Verizon, 7-10 days for most other major carriers (Qwest, Wireless, etc), 14-30 days for VoIP to VoIP and other smaller carriers.
Pricing
Processing ports on our end takes a considerable amount of time and administrative work. We actually have a full-time porting person for VOIPo. We're looking at the following fee structure for porting.
Tier 0 Areas: $5
Tier 1 Areas: $5
Tier 2 Areas: $10
Tier 3 Areas: $10
Toll-Free: $5
Canada: Not Available
Tier 2 & 3 are higher because we have to pay our underlying a $10 porting fee in those areas. $10 is our cost for those areas so there is nothing we can do to drop that. In Tier 0 & Tier 1 areas, we have negotiated special deals and do not pay carriers for porting so we only need to charge for the administrative work associated with it.
I'm going to have this converted to a web-based format and added to the site, but here is a spreadsheet showing the tiers: http://voipo.com/RC-Jan09.xls
