Customer Referral Program
We've now launched a Customer Referral Program.
If you refer someone to VOIPo, simply have them provide your 10 Digit VOIPo Phone Number on the order form. Once their order is processed, we'll add a free month of service to both of your accounts automatically.
Referrer: 1 Free Month
Person Referred: 1 Free Month
When someone enters a referrer number on the order form, the form will validate it and display the name so they can verify that it's correct. This is valid for all residential orders including monthly and yearly plans. Users must enter the phone number at the time of order to receive credit.
When you have a completed referral, you'll be notified by e-mail. Soon, you'll be able to track the referral history in your vPanel when we launch the new fully-integrated billing in vPanel later this month.
If you have any questions about this, please contact support.

Re: Customer Referral Program
Just to clarify, this is for Residential Plans only at this point.

Re: Customer Referral Program
Looks like I hooked up my parents a month too soon! ;) I'll start working on other family members...
-
Re: Customer Referral Program
Is this starting today? I helped a friend sign up yesterday but I didn't see the referral option in there. Should have waited an extra day! ;)
-
Re: Customer Referral Program
This was pushed out yesterday afternoon -- so depending on what time they signed up, it sounds like they may have *just* missed it getting added!
The new section is listed under the 'VOIPo Plan Selection' box on the: Residential Order Form

Re: Customer Referral Program
Sounds like a sure method to avoid random credits.
Nobody will spam their own phone number!

Re: Customer Referral Program
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but will it work if the person we refer uses a virtual number?

The only stupid question is the one not asked. :)
Currently it's only checking the primary account number, so a VN wouldn't work.
We could add in linked VN's to accept as well, but that might counter-act the idea of making it more of a 'friends and family' style referral (ie, referring new customers who you'd be comfortable giving your primary number).
We've got some other referral and reseller ideas and programs on the drawing board that might be geared a bit more toward this kind of thing; however, the focus for this particular item -- as usa2k alluded to -- was keeping random credits and spamming referral 'codes' to a minimum.

Re: Customer Referral Program
^ makes sense. The referral "code" issue went over my head at first, but I get it now.
The reason for my asking was that most all of my friends/family use the VN to call (it was ported over after I signed up)...no biggie, they can deal with it. :)

Why not try a system like Hostgator uses where everyone has a referral code instead of their number. Support for referral links would be great too. Then if I chose to advertise on one of my websites I do not have to supply my home number (which is never going to happen).

We've got something a bit more along these lines on the drawing board.. ;)

Re: Customer Referral Program
The current referral did not get much DSLR attention.
More likely, because it is kind of spam-proof, it is accepted.

Re: Customer Referral Program
The Referral Program has now been expanded to include all VOIPo services.
You can now refer new customers to VOIPo for VOIPo Express services including Toll-Free Numbers, Forwarded Local Numbers, and Fax Numbers.
If you have multiple numbers in your account and refer someone, you can use any of them. Whatever number is entered as the Referrer will have a free month applied.
Referrer: 1 Free Month
Referral: 1 Free Month (2nd Month)

Re: Customer Referral Program
Hate to bring this thread back to life, but I just signed my parents up for service and used my number for the referral.
I see the free month in my account, but I don't see a free month in her account, does it take 30 days for it to show up in her account? Thanks.

Is the referral program still on?

Re: Customer Referral Program
Yes, it's active.
They just need to put your 10 digit VOIPo number in as the referral code (no spaces or dashes).

It's listed as "Promo/Referral Code" on the order form. For residential, it's near the bottom subtotal area and for the other services it's in the contact info area.
PM me your friend's info and I'll take care of it.

Thanks, Tim. PM sent. I suspect my friend just didn't know where to look.

Re: Customer Referral Program
When putting my 10 digit VOIPo number in as the referral code I get an error message: Error: Invalid Promotional Code.

Re: Customer Referral Program
Hi, I referred my dad and I do see the referral in the 'My Referrals' section of the control panel, but my service end-date doesn't appear to have changed. Will this resolve after his 30 day "intro" period has expired?
Thanks!

It should be automatic. Contact support@voipo.com with the account info and they can verify the referral applied correctly and fix if needed.

Still getting the Error: Invalid Promotional Code message. I'd like to promote VOIPo more, should I open a ticket on this?

Didn't even need to email 'em. I was miscalculating. My service end date is correct and includes the 30 day extension due to the referral.
Thanks guys for a great service!

Shoot me a PM with the promotion code / referral username that you are using, thanks!

Re: Customer Referral Program
Thought I'd ask if the referral program is still in place. Is it still one month for both parties? A friend of mine recently joined after much persuasion. However, I don't see any credits in my referral page in the control panel. Of course, it's possible he didn't realize where he had to enter my phone number - I never did go over that web page with him.

Yes, the referral program is still active.
If you think that your friend just forgot to enter the number, please PM me their info and your info and as long as no other promotions/referrals were applied, I'll manually give you the referral credit.
