    Post N11 Codes

I arranged my N11 codes using the Outbound Routes feature. I thought I'd post them here in case it helps anyone else. If you have better suggestions or info, please let me know.

    I'm located in Massachusetts.

    211 - 8772116277 (877-211-MASS)
    311 - My police non-emergency number
    411 - 4252964774 (800-GOOG-411)
    511 - 6173741234 (MassHighway/SmarTraveler)
    611 - 2816172000 (877-99-VOIPO)
    711 - Set by VOIPo
    811 - 8883447233 (888-DIG-SAFE)
    911 - Set by VOIPo E911 settings

A good list. I've been too lazy to set mine up here, although I know what I'd put in to those numbers. One thing, though--don't presume that voipo has set up 711, unless they've stated they have done so. (AFAIK, Tim does not have that as an included feature.) It looks like the appropriate number for your telecom relay service (voice calls) is 1-800-439-0183.

When I originally went to create my list, I was looking for an appropriate number (thanks, BTW - I'll update my post) but I kept finding this FCC page that says:
The FCC recently determined that providers of interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service also must offer 711 abbreviated dialing.
I only mention it because that's why I presumed it was set by VOIPo. In fact, I tried calling it and it told me it was going to connect me to a 911 operator () and I immediately hung up. Needless to say, I submitted a ticket.

I did not realize that that FCC had required VoIP providers to connect people to their telecom relay service. Good reason for that ticket, I'd say.

    Yeah, it's still pending.

Unfortunately the FCC requires a lot of providers to do a lot of things not technically possible.

Like completing ports quickly as another example.

CALEA is the big one. While most of us have something that's basically compliant, it's not possible from a technical standpoint to be fully compliant with VoIP just give how the services are set up.

CALEA can eat my shorts... SKYPE is encrypted end-to-end with (they say) no way to snoop in the middle, why can't other pstn-integrated voip providers do that?

We haven't announced it yet, but 711 is now available. It will route to the appropriate relay center for the state.
