    That sounds like overkill. MANY providers (mostly cell and also voip) do not provide CNAM. I feel that if the CID number is "valid" the call should be passsed. AT&T Wireless here doesn't provice CNAM and since it is not actually "blocked" no AT&T user can call my home because they can't "unblock" what isn't blocked.

    As you know ANY CID/CNAM can be spoofed (there are dozens of webites that will do it for you for 5c a call) if the caller REALLY wants to. IMO anything with a valid format PHONE NUMBER should be passed unless the name says "private" or whatever but if the number is valid then the name won't usually show private unless it is truly spoofed.

    Maybe my name REALLY is "CELL PHONE NJ"!

    Edit: Wait, my caller ID when I call my house from my CELL shows CELL PHONE NJ along with the proper number. Are you saying that is showing up as no name at all on your system which is why it is being rejected?

    There is very little standardization in the industry. Some providers send the calls with a privacy to block the caller ID, but many VoIP providers don't this this...they just take the name out.

    The block all unknown is the most strict and blocks anything regardless of the method they send it in. Before we added this, a lot of blocked calls from other VoIP providers were getting through.

    If all carriers did things correctly and send the "privacy flag", this wouldn't be needed.
