I did have that problem when I first tried X-Lite, and it seemed to be that I was confused by the account configuration settings in X-Lite. Once I got that straightened out, it worked ok for placing calls. I have never tried receiving calls.
Set the "User Name" and "Authorization user name" to your phone number. See if that helps.
