Default Short ring without an incoming call

I am a new VOIPo customer and I'm in that limbo stage of porting that has my old number still going to T-Mobile and the number being configured and working outgoing on VOIPo. I have the LinkSys ATA.

The issue is one wired phone in the house will ring occassionally, a short 1 ring. Pick up the line, there is no call, no voicemail, just a nice dial tone.

Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks

Not a usual symptom - is your ring time set short?

Perhaps look at your Call History? https://secure.voipo.com/call_log

Voicemail set for 4 rings. No incoming calls in call log.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Since you're still inside the porting process and since only VOIPo can full program your ATA, your best bet would be to either call them in the morning and in the interim, you can submit a support ticket.
I'm sure they will get you going in no time..

I am fully operational on VOIPo now and still have the problem. Oddly it is just one phone that rings of several in the house. I may just turn the ringer on that phone off!

If you have more than 4 phones connected to the same port on the ATA, you may be running into a voltage or current problem.

Does it happen to be the phone furthest from the ATA when you have multiple phones connected?

It is also possible that he is distributing the line using house wiring that is still connected somewhere to his old provider. Sometimes old wiring will be connected in odd places and current will backfeed into the line, causing the ringer to get a spike whenever the line discharges.

I turned off the ringer on the offending phone. There were only three devices (one with a mechanical ringer) connected on the house wiring with the ATA. The problem is resolved. Thanks for your help.
