Perhaps you will use MAC IDs? (Limit/control multiple instances.)
And have a place to register such an ID.
Then VM can work the same.

Still not sure about dialing out?
I can gget to VM by 123, then my number and my password.
    Dialing out always fails.
    codeblue.voipo.com:5060 seems necessary to register
even though the ATA can be codeblue.voipo.com:5070 (See image on earlier post.)

Both Grandstream and ZyXel show they are registered

Only the Grandstream can place calls.
The ZyXel is not interfering with incoming for Grandstream.

    Both show registered on vPanel.

Lightbulb Re: 2 instances of my number

BTW, I have P8 forwarded to VOIPo number.

It looks confusing to have the P8 phone still as one of my two lines, because P8 still rings once or twice even though VOIPo is ringing (And that is P8's forward option - not simul-ring.) So I am leaving P8 unconnected to any phone.

Forwarding should not interfere with my P8 LNP to VOIPo. It never affected Vonage to P8 ...

In a "double device" scenario, it isn't always sent to both devices on incoming calls.

The "last" device that sent a register for that period gets precedence for anything.

You may want to disable to unregister before register feature/s if they exist on the ATA.

You can also do "make outbound calls without registering" so it will still attempt the outbound call and should make it if the outbound proxy information is correct.

Really outbound is all I am looking for. The odds of using the second line is rare, but it is just comforting to have the option.

When I had 5060 before, it worked outbound - I should try that again. It seemed to mess-up the inbound to the Grandstream. I've got a busy night, and I am out of town tomorrow, but I will have time to play Wednesday.

I had issues trying this today, but had more success using port 5061.
I put in a help request for no outbound audio when getting an incoming call.
VOIPo support had a look and it all seems good now.

5061 was working good at one point and I may have complicated things by trying a few other ports. vPanel was stacked up with device registration lines. So it could have been my own problem.

Bottom line - all is good

    The Grandstream is for in/out
The ZyXel is for out only if ever needed.
I route the in to the other phone port not connected. (ZyXel lets you decide which/both ports ring.)

Oh ... 123 for VM is working great from either line
    (No Comedian Mail greeting!)

The two instance of my same number have been working great.
(I had a network issue with my ethernet cable bypassing router to a switch.)

Anyway, the point is, it is working great. And, I recently noticed a DSLR thread about VT with this topic: http://www.viatalk.com/two_phone_lines.htm That nicely says what I've been saying all along.

I do not believe that VT is really your competition.
So what they do is probably just a passing interest.
I expect your real competition to be Packet8 and Vonage.
